Located on the Adelaide sand belt and established in 1923, the Kooyonga Golf Club is recognised internationally as one of Australia's leading championship courses and private golf clubs having hosted five Australian Opens, nine South Australian Opens and many other State and National golf events throughout its history.

In February 2018, Kooyonga will host the Women's Australian Open for the first time.

The Club's mission is to provide members and guests with an outstanding golfing experience and industry-leading facilities and services. The Club has developed a strategic plan for 2016-2020 and is committed to a rolling 5 year course and landscape enhancement plan that was developed with the assistance of Architects Crafter and Mogford in 2015.

The Committee has two key strategic objectives for the course:

  • To be recognised as a stand-out course and practice facility in South Australia with a course rating inside the top 20 in Australia
  • To be recognised as consistently presenting the course in playing conditions on par with the leading courses in Australia

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dynamic Course Superintendent with a commitment to excellence to join Kooyonga.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Course Committee and will support the Committee by implementing various strategic initiatives that are focused on the Club being firmly entrenched as one of the leading traditional (sand belt) courses in Australia and recognised for its superb conditioning and playability all year round.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and as a key member of the senior management team, the Course Superintendent will manage all aspects of the golf course, practice facilities, clubhouse gardens and surrounds to agreed standards established by the Committee.

Key responsibilities include:-

  • Oversee the day to day management of course staff including leadership, supervision, training and support
  • Develop and implement the annual golf course maintenance and presentation programs for playing surfaces and other areas that ensure an exceptional standard of presentation.
  • To project manage course improvements in line with the 5 year course and landscape enhancement plan
  • To maintain the course equipment and water infrastructure in very good working condition
  • To provide significant input into the Club's strategic and annual business plans
  • Through the General Manager, implement the policies and directives of the Committee

The successful candidate will possess the following key competencies:

  • Appropriate qualifications in turf management
  • Outstanding leadership, motivational and people management skills
  • A high degree of administrative and executive ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Proven organisational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial and physical resources
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with staff, industry stakeholders and relevant associations
  • Major tournament experience
